The contest to win this year's Kicker Cup City Championship trophy is going down to the very last night of the regular season.

The traveling trophy is awarded each year to the Texarkana high school football team that finishes the regular season with the best overall record. Townsquare Media and KKYR pronounce that team to be the city champion.

The winner will be awarded the trophy at its first playoff pep rally. That team will control the huge trophy until a new winner is crowned next fall.

Going into the final game of the regular season, the Liberty-Eylau Leopards are currently in the lead with a record of 8-1. The defending champion Texas High Tigers are right behind the Leopards with a 7-2 record. Both Pleasant Grove and Arkansas High have been eliminated from the competition at this point.

If there is a tie in the standings between the Leopards and Tigers we will use a tie-breaker to determine this year's champion.

The Kicker Cup is sponsored by Red River Credit Union in Texarkana.
