Kolache Is A Household Name In Texas [VIDEO]

Do you know what a Kolache is? I had never heard of a Kolache until I moved to Texas. I know many residents of Texarkana have not only heard of these tasty pastries but have enjoyed eating them at their favorite local doughnut shop.

Do you know when Kolaches came to America? Kolaches came to America in the mid 1800's when immigrants from Central Europe settled in central Texas. From my travels over Texas, I've discovered that Kolaches can be made with various fillings in the center from fruit to cheese to sausage and eggs and vegetables. I like Kolaches with the fruit in the center when the pastry comes straight out of the oven.
