With a restart, and only 8 laps to the checkered flag, everybody was hoping it would be Earnhardt Jr., but Kyle Busch was able to pull away from him to get the win, his fourth straight at Richmond International Raceway.

This is Busch’s first win of the 2012 season, and the 24th in his career.  This win ties him with his brother Kurt the 2004 Cup Champion.

Tony Stewart (Sluggo), was leading the race until the 5th caution was called with 12 laps to go, for debris on the track, (depends who you ask, NASCAR says it was sheet metal, Stewart said it was a thrown water bottle?.?.?.?)  Stewart finished the race 3rd, behind Earnhardt Jr. who finished 2nd. Denny Hamlin finished 4th, and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top 5.

Arguably one of the strongest cars in Saturday nights Capital City 400 was Carl Edwards #99 Ford Fusion, but on a restart with 89 laps to the finish, Edwards and Tony Stewart were on the front line, Edwards’ spotter had told him he was the leader, and at the green flag he sped away, and was penalized by NASCAR for jumping the restart and passing the leader before it was allowed.  Which led to a pretty good argument between Carl’s Crew Chief Bob Osborne, and NASCAR officials, but the penalty stood, and Edwards finished the race in the 10th position.

Next Sunday it is restrictor plate racing at Talledega!  At this race in 2011 Jimmie Johnson beat Clint Boyer for the win buy .002 seconds, which ties the record for closest finish in NASCAR history.  The race will be on FOX at 11 a.m. central.
