Grab your fanciest hats and a mint julep -- Lady Antebellum are headed to the 2016 Kentucky Derby. Though the trio has been taking time to rejuvenate and step away from the limelight, they'll reunite on May 7 at Louisville's Churchill Downs to sing the National Anthem prior to the 142nd running of the horse race.

Dave Haywood tells USA Today that being asked to sing the National Anthem at an iconic event such as the Kentucky Derby is "pretty cool."

"There’s so much history and ceremony to it," he adds, "and people wait all year for not only the races, but all the festivities and parties that go on that weekend."

And while many artists may feel incredibly nervous about such a tall task (or even forget the words), Haywood says that Lady A approach the adrenaline and the pressure in a positive way.

"There’s an energy to performing live that you have to love in order to do it, but that adrenaline is what we feed off of. So, we just always go out and have a good time and enjoy the moment," he says, noting that he and his bandmates, Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley, will "put our own Lady A spin on it."

Following their Derby appearance, the "Bartender" singers will embark on their 2016 summer tour, which is scheduled to kick off on May 27 in Baton Rouge, La. Then, they'll likely hit the studio in the fall.

“We’ve got a lot of people on salary and stuff, so we’re like, ‘Alright. This is a business,'” Kelley explains. “We’ll probably gear up and at least start cutting some stuff in the fall, as a band, but we’re just giving ourselves the luxury of time. We’re not going anywhere. We stay in touch as much as we always have, and we try to write when we can."

Haywood says that the time they've taken to explore their own individual music projects (Kelley's solo album, Scott's gospel record) is "going to make us stronger as a band." And, ultimately, he says, "... the experience has already brought new ideas to the table for Lady A and has made us that much more ready to get back on the road together this summer. I’m really looking forward to what’s next for us as a band and hope that we’ll have some new music to share with our fans later this year."

At the Kentucky Derby, Lady Antebellum are set to perform just after 5PM ET. For more information on the trio's upcoming shows and ticket information, visit their website.
