Haylee Wren is a 10-year old from Texarkana and she has a very special talent for writing. Haylee has contributed several of her favorite stories to Writers Among Us, a book that is a collection of short stories with many local authors.

Combining Haylee's talent of writing and her love of animals, Haylee has masterminded a fundraiser for a local dog rescue at her book signing this Saturday at Genoa Feed and Hardware on Hwy 196.

Come meet the author and help her raise money for animals! The book signing-fundraiser is Saturday, May 18 between 11:30 and 1 p.m.  Haylee will autograph her books during that time. Half of the proceeds will go to help rescue animals at Mimi's Muttley Crew Rescue. Books are just $12 during this event.

Genoa Feed and Seed and the Chuck Wagon Restaurant are located at the intersection of Genoa Road Hwy 196 and Hwy 237, across from Dixie Mart. Haylee will be in front of the Chuck Wagon--their food is great. The contact person is Jodi at 870-571-7950.

Haylee began drawing at age three and began adding creative stories to go along with her artwork. She wants to be a teacher or writer someday.

The book is a collection of short stories by local authors. The most prominent author is William Carl who has published about seven books since his retirement. Haylee is a part of a writers group called the Texarkana Writers Workshop who meet at Williams Memorial Methodist Church the second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. to improve their writing skills. The book, Writers Among Us, can also be found on Amazon for $15.
