I love it when people in our community come together by doing something special. Recently, Nettles Nest Country Inn employees took it upon themselves to make parts of Bowie County a little more beautiful.

Employees were spotted picking up litter along its Adopt-a-Highway section of Farm to Market Road 991 between U.S. Highway 67 and Elliott Creek.  Volunteers in the group picked up several  bags of litter on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Anyone interested  in adopting a section of highway for litter prevention can contact Stephanie Fahhney at TxDOT at 903-799-1202.

Adopt-A-Highway Litter Removal Service of America, Inc. manages Adopt A Highway sponsorship programs in 27 markets in the United States. In partnership with department of transportations (DOTs), local agencies and Toll Authorities, they work daily to keep America’s roads litter free. According to their website it costs an estimated $11.5 billion each year to keep America’s roads clean. Please be a part of this campaign to Keep America Beautiful.
