Texas side police say a local resident has been arrested for allegedly tattooing two 14 year old boys.

The Texarkana, Texas Police Department arrested Christopher Earl West, 41, on Sunday afternoon following an investigation into the tattooing of the teenagers. After receiving reports from the teenagers’ parents, Detective Shawn Jacobs determined that West had tattooed the pair at his home in the 2200 block of Hazel Street where he was running an unlicensed tattoo business under the name of Wild West Tattoos.

West has been charged with two counts of "Tattoos Prohibited for Certain Persons," a class A misdemeanor, which carries a maximum punishment of a one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

The Texas Department of State Health Services Drugs and Medical Devices Group is responsible for the enforcement of Health and Safety Code, Chapter 146, Tattoo and Certain Body Piercing Studio Act. New rules adopted under the Act went into effect May 4, 2000, and provide guidelines for minimizing infections and to reduce the occurrence of minors being tattooed and body pierced.

Anyone with information on this or any other crime is asked to contact the Texarkana, Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crimestoppers at 903-793-STOP.
