Local Police Prepare For Annual Shop With Cop

One of favorite events that the Texarkana, Arkansas police department and local firefighters do every year is the annual "Shop with a Cop".

On Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 the annual Shop with a Cop will take place. This event involves area police officers and firefighters meeting at the Bi-State Center at 7:30a.m., and convoy to Wal-Mart at 133 Arkansas Blvd. The caravan is expected to arrive at Wal-Mart at 8:00am. At this time each officer will be paired with a needy child from our area. Each child will be given $100 in order to do their Christmas shopping at the store.

This highly anticipated annual event is held each year to assist local children who may not otherwise have a Merry Christmas. This event is funded through proceeds from the annual Ed Worrell Memorial Tournament and several donations provided by local businesses as well as generous private citizens.

This event is something that you must see to truly appreciate and shows that our local police and firefighters really care about the community. They may serve and protect us year round but once a year they continue to show us why they are the unsung heroes in our area.
