On Wednesday, July 22, Texarkana, Ark., Police Officers Corporal Kyle Beach and Officer Alan Johnson responded to a residence in reference to a 911 call of a possible suicide attempt. When Officers arrived they met with a resident who called for police assistance. The resident advised officers that his roommate had recently threatened suicide and was unable to find him inside the house. Officers then asked to search again as they are trained on these types of calls. The second search subsequently led to the discovery of his roommate, a 23-year old male, located inside a closet with a tight string around his neck, hanging unresponsive and not breathing.

Corporal Beach and Officer Johnson, using a pocket knife, cut the individual down and laid him on the floor. The Officers then administered CPR for several minutes and were eventually able to revive the subject. LifeNet arrived and transported the individual to Wadley Hospital for further medical attention. From this incident, the individual suffered only minor physical injuries.

If it were not for Cpl. Beach and Officer Johnson’s eagerness and compassion to help the family, the subject would not have been located and more time would have passed ensuring the end of this individual’s life. Corporal Beach and Officer Johnson's actions in this incident are to be commended. Their timely response and investigation led to this subject being located and revived. Both Corporal Beach and Officer Johnson were nominated for a special commendation by the Patrol Commander Capt. Mark Lewis.
