Capt. Mark Lewis’s career in Law Enforcement began in November of 1984 with the Ashdown Police Department. In August of 1987 he started his career with the Texarkana Ark. Police Department working his way up the ranks. In February of 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Captain.

Captain Mark Lewis has served as the CID Commander, Narcotics Task Force Commander and the Patrol Commander sometimes multi-tasking and commanding two divisions at the same time. He has also been the Commander of SWAT.

In January – March of 1997, he attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. During his career with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department Captain Mark Lewis has received many awards including Police Commendation, Officer of the Quarter, Educational and Advanced Certificate. Captain Lewis has many letters of commendation and appreciation in his files.

All of these professional accomplishments and accolades pale in comparison to the real, grass roots, impact Captain Lewis has had on the men and women of this agency. We will greatly miss his contribution to our agency and this City, and we wish him well as he transitions to the next phase in his career – expanding all of these skills to the State level.

On March 10, 2016 Captain Mark Lewis retired with 29 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Texarkana, AR.
