If 2017 was a big year for Luke Combs, 2018 promises to be even bigger. The Boot's readers have voted the rising singer-songwriter as Best Club Act in the 2018 Golden Mic Awards.

With 53 percent of votes, Combs bested Kip MooreMaren MorrisBrent Cobb and more to take home this Golden Mic Awards title. He started the year on his headlining Don't Tempt Me With a Good Time Tour -- which, in fact, he extended from 2017 due to fan demand -- and this summer, he's on the road with Jason Aldean, for Aldean's High Noon Neon Tour.

Thanks to the success of his first two singles, "Hurricane" and "When It Rains It Pours," Combs has noticed his fanbase expanding, particularly in terms of the amount of women who come out to shows.

"It was a little surprising because I've always been pretty dude-centric ... The fanbase has taken on a broader shape since "Hurricane" came out, though, and that's a good thing. It opens up possibilities not only performance-wise, but writing-wise, too," Combs admits. "We're going to be able to do things we couldn't have done before now that we have those demographics. It's getting better all the time."

After an action-packed 2017, including two back-to-back No. 1 singles, Combs says he has felt pressure to keep that momentum going as 2018 progresses. However, "then I realized that maybe I don't have to do something different. I'm here because what I am doing is working really well.

"I think my goal for 2018 is to write songs that I enjoy singing and have fun playing them for folks who want to listen," he adds. "It's worked out well for me so far."
