Time again for the Lyrid Meteor Shower.  Earth passes thru the orbit of the comet Thatcher, and after midnight Saturday April 21 should be great viewing for viewing shooting stars in the Ark-La-Tex.

Of the annual meteor showers a lot of stargazers prefer the Perseids in late summer, but with the new moon viewing the Lyrids tonight should be great.

Best way to view them is out of town, so you can get away from the city lights, and lay out on a blanket, a sleeping bag or at least a lawn chair.

Here’s some video from ABC.com that was provided by NASA of a view of some of the shooting stars, and the comet streaking by from the space station.
