Meredith Vieira leaving NBC’s “Today” Show

Five years after replacing Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira is leaving the "Today" Show to spend more time with family.

"Even as I say this and I know that it's the right thing, I'm really sad," she said, fighting back emotion as she made the announcement on the air Monday.

Ann Curry, who fills numerous news rolls at NBC including; news anchor on the "Today" show since 1997, Brian Williams "NBC Nightly News" fill-in anchor and host of "Dateline NBC" since 2005,  will replace Vieira in June.
