A new study says that 53 percent of Americans say it's ok to text, tweet or Facebook mom on Mother's Day as opposed to picking up the phone and calling her.

What's astonishing, to me, is that the survey shows 60 percent of mothers say a text or Facebook message is perfectly fine.

WHAT?!!

I hate talking on the phone. I literally go out of my way to avoid getting stuck talking on the phone with people. The lone exception is my mother. Yes, we'll exchange the occasional quick text, but nothing replaces hearing each others voice on the phone (other than seeing them face to face).

To me, texting or sending other types of electronic messages, is fine for day to day communication. But, on mom's special day she deserves some personal contact with her kids. She deserves to hear your voice.
