Tomorrow evening, October 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. citizens in neighborhoods across Texarkana, Arkansas will be turning their lights on and getting together with friends and neighbors for an evening outside to celebrate the “31th Annual National Night Out”.The National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote “neighborhood spirit” and “community partnerships”. National Night Out, a year-long community building campaign, is designed to:

  •  Heighten crime prevention awareness;
  •  Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships;
  •  Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
