The NCAA handed down sanctions today that will pretty much cripple the Penn State football program for many years to come.

Among the sanctions handed down to Penn State:

  • $60 million fine. The money will go to an endowment to benefit children's welfare.
  • No post season for the next four seasons.
  • Reductions of 10 scholarships per year for the next four years.
  • Vacate all victories from 1998 through 2011.
  • Five year probation.

Penn State is not going to appeal the sanctions.

The Nittany Lions football program has completely had its legs cut out from underneath them by the NCAA. The so called "death penalty" would have been easier to overcome than these sanctions. It will be YEARS before they recover.
