Folks love to talk about the people that came before them, whether they’re infamous outlaws, respected citizens or simply beloved kin. Sometimes, if we’re very lucky, we discover a treasure trove of old time photos that help tell the story of the community, like these from the early days of New Boston.

As I turned page after page of old newspapers at the New Boston Public Library, it was as if gentle hands of residents long gone pulled me through the looking glass to take me on a tour of their town.

The community may have changed, since most of the houses and businesses are now long gone. But early New Boston residents lived stories we can relate to, which is evident from their fashion sense (check out the hats!), their children (so adorable), the businesses they operated and the homes they took obvious pride in.

I hope you enjoy this collection of photos from old issues of the Citizens Tribune as much as I did!
