A special Monday night meeting of city officials ended with a no confidence vote for longtime New Boston Texas Police Chief Kerry Pinkham, putting him out of a job.

Kerry Pinkham has spent 41 years with the New Boston Texas Police Department, the last 23 years as Chief. New Boston citizens packed into the city council chambers in support of Chief Pinkham. Councilman Joe Dikes put up the motion, and the council voted unanimously to fire the police chief. Some council members reportedly said that recent drug problems in the city was the reason behind the firing.
