It's that time of year when the weather starts warming up and I get the theme park fever. I guess it conjures up memories of being a kid growing up and remembering going on little weekend getaways with my folks.

There is a certain smell in the air when the seasons start to turn over that helps make that transition to spring a lot easier. And with spring break well underway you can't help but want to go to one of my favorite theme parks in this region Six Flags Over Texas.

As every year Six Flags always continues to improve their theme park with new attractions, entertainment and YES new rides. Every year since I remember you couldn't wait to see what the new ride will be at the park.

This year of course is a new ride appropriately named 'Texas SkyScreamer'  that is guaranteed to make your stomach drop and get your head spinning. You know what they say, everything is bigger in Texas even the Texas SkyScreamer, the world's tallest extreme swing ride. Texas SkyScreamer towers an astounding 400 feet over Six Flags Over Texas. Talk about a bird's eye view!

Six Flags Over Texas has more than 50 rides. Everything from Looney Tunes rides for kids to heart racing thrill machines like SUPERMAN: Tower of Power and Texas Giant. My favorite is still the classic log flume ride 'El Aserradero' especially on those long hot summer days, what a way to cool off. Six flags has also been known for great food, live shows, concerts, and the live action cowboy shootout in the park.

Right now Six Flags is open weekends and on a limited basis during Spring Break, March 9-17 and March 22-24. The park will be open daily beginning May 15. For more information about schedules, tickets and park hours go to sixflags.com/overTexas
