The United Way of Greater Texarkana has announced that grants for Miller and Bowie County in the amounts of $15,387 and $36,214 are available for certain agencies.

The grants are available under Phase 35 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program. Not-for-profit social service agency food and shelter services in Miller and Bowie County are invited to apply for these funds.

Applications must be submitted no later than noon on Thursday May 24. Applications  received after that date will not be considered. The EFSP Phase 35 Application can be requested from the United Way of Greater Texarkana at 214 Spruce Street, or call 903-794-3105 and an application can be faxed or sent electronically. A board comprised of local representatives will review each application.

Congress has appropriated $120,000,000 to supplement and expand emergency food and shelter programs. Bowie and Miller Counties award is based upon the total number of unemployed as compared to the total number of unemployed in all qualifying jurisdictions.
