Oak Ridge Boys and Miss America Highlight 2016 Hope Watermelon Festival

Hard to believe but it's almost that time for the 40th annual Hope Watermelon Festival August 11-13, 2016 in Hope, Ark.

Hope is best know as the "Watermelon Capital of the World" because of the largest watermelons ever produced. Not only can you purchase watermelons at the festival but they naturally will be serving up slices of ice cold watermelon for everyone to enjoy. There's nothing more refreshing on hot summer days than biting into a fresh slice of melon. The festival also features a number of melon-oriented events such as the seed-spitting contest which I've done before and the watermelon-eating contest.

Not only will there be lots of arts and crafts, great food, and family activities but plenty of great entertainment as well. This year the festival will feature an outdoor concert from the legendary Oak Ridge Boys on Saturday evening August 13, at 8:30PM. Miss America, Betty Cantrell will take the stage at 7:30PM. In addition, you can participate in the Watermelon 5K Run, 2016 Little Miss Watermelon, Watermelon Idol talent contest and the Watermelon Car Show.
