Because rain and stormy weather are expected this weekend, Oktoberfest has been rescheduled. The event is now set for 10AM on Saturday, November 14, at Front Street Plaza in downtown Texarkana.

"Due to the weather forecast of torrential rains and thunderstorms, we have decided to postpone Oktoberfest until November 14. We want this first year to be amazing and feel this is the best possible choice," said event coordinator Debbie Brower. "Thank you all for your support. We will see you then and hopefully the sun will shine on us."

Oktoberfest will include arts and crafts vendors, delicious food and a beer garden with breweries from the wonderful state of Arkansas. Local artists, musicians and entertainers will be performing throughout the day, plus a special guest.

Texarkana Friends of the Shelter is hosting the festival, whose purpose is to raise money for the Animal Care and Adoption Center, our local animal shelter in Texarkana.

Did you know that Arkansas is known for its great craft beers and local breweries? This will be a great opportunity to sample some of the best craft beers from local breweries.
