Get ready for the first ever One of a Kind Walk to Cure Diabetes at Bobby Ferguson Park this Saturday, July 19. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the walk getting underway at 8 a.m. Money raised will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Texarkana resident Kayce Welch (who has juvenile diabetes) talked with her mom about wanting to do something to bring awareness to this growing problem in America. So after talking with her mom Robin they decided to put together this walk to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The feedback and support has been tremendous throughout the community.

My mother passed away in 2007 from diabetes and recently I was diagnosed as a new diabetic (Type 1) however, my doctor seems to believe with proper exercise and nutrition he thinks I can get it under control.  So this is why I wanted to volunteer my time to walk with Kayce on Saturday and do this in memory of my mother plus help Kayce out on her first walk for a cure.

Cost is only $10 per entrant for walk and only $25 per entrant for walk and a limited edition  t-shirt. For more information go to their facebook page or call Robin at 903-276-8262.

I challenge my Kicker listeners to come walk with me and Kayce this Saturday, July 19. If I could get just 10 loyal listeners to join us for $10 that would be an amazing $100 donated to a great cause. I hope to see you there!
