One Texas Town Just Put Up a Statue of Two Girls Taking a Selfie
An accurate depiction of modern life or a sad reminder of mankind's demise?
Let's be honest, there's probably a person taking a selfie every .07 seconds on this earth. Our vain species has found a new way to capture the world in a photo. Even if the world is completely blocked by our massive, egotistical heads.
But people have been taking selfies for a long time.
The only difference now is that the smartphone has made it exceedingly easier. So when you hear that Sugar Land, Texas has erected a statue of two girls taking one of these infamous photos, it's hard not to see both sides of the coin. Yes, it sounds like a ridiculous waste of space, but at the same time, it's an accurate representation of modern man.
According to NBC 2 in Houston, the statue was part of a collection donated to the city. Each statue represents what visitors would do in the space. Not too far off, there is a statue of a man wearing aviators and playing guitar while sitting on the edge of the fountain.
Now the selfie girls don't seem so silly.
I can only imagine how many people will take selfies with the selfie taking statue.
