The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department would like to inform citizens of a recent phone scam that is circulating in the Texarkana Area. This scam involves individuals receiving a call from an unknown person claiming to be from Publisher’s Clearing House saying the person who they called won a substantial amount of money. The unknown person goes on to state in order to receive the winnings all they have to do is wire $1000 or $2000 from a local Wal-Mart to an unknown location.

According to Publishers Clearing House (PCH) official website this is a scam. Additionally it advises that they do not make winner notifications via phone. The following statement was located on PCH official website:

Remember, at Publishers Clearing House, the winning is always free. If you are ever asked to send or wire money to claim a sweepstakes prize, you are being scammed. It’s just that simple! If you believe you have been the victim of a fraudulent contact using the name of Publishers Clearing House, please contact us at 1-800-392-4190. If you receive a suspicious email fraudulently claiming to be from PCH, PCHLotto or PCHSearch&Win, forward it to our Publishers Clearing House scam reporting mailbox, abuse@pch.com
