The Pleasant Grove Hawks perfect season continued with a big Homecoming win over Atlanta, beating the Rabbits 48-17 this past Friday night.

It took a little while for the potent Hawk offense to get going and Coach Josh Gibson credited the Rabbit defense, saying." Atlanta(loaded the box) early to take away the run. We adjusted and started throwing the ball in the second series and just missed on some close passes. After that series, I thought we did a great job of executing in the passing game, which opened up the run."

Sophomore Quarterback Ben Harmon had a great night with 4 touchdown passes and threw for over 150 yards in the air. Gibson was thrilled to see that happen, " We haven't thrown for 4 TD's in a half since I've been here. Our passing game is getting better each week."

T.J. Cole showed up in a big way Friday night scoring 3 touchdowns for the Hawks. His coach describes Cole as a play-maker and a great weapon, who continues to dominate, in both running the ball and receiving.

Defensively PG held the fast Rabbits in check all night long holding thme to 8 first downs and 17 points. It was a team effort, but Gibson did point out Caleb Porchia for having the best game of his career saying, "He had 20 tackles in the game and lead our defense."

The Hawks continue to protect the ball well and the pleases Gibson who says they strive for perfection in that area. If there was one thing that the coach would like to see his Hawks improve on, was the penalties. PG was penalized for almost 100 yards in the game. Gibson says that was way too muck and that the team has to do a better job of playing disciplined football

Next up for the Hawks is a trip to Pittsburgh to take on the Pirates, who are unbeaten in district play and coming off an exciting overtime victory over Spring Hill. Gibson describes the Pirates as very well coached. "Coach Baca has a great offensive scheme and does a great job of taking what the defense gives them."

Pittsburgh runs a spread attack on offense and a split defense and according to Gibson, they play hard on that side of the ball.

Coach Gibson continues to be very proud of his team's effort and the fan support, "Great win on homecoming and another awesome crowd. The community has been special this year and we are thankful for their support."

These Hawks continue to gain momentum and confidence with each victory. We know they are taking it one game and one week at a time. Just a couple of more victories and they will likely find themselves with a District Championship and a first seed in the playoffs.

Plan on making the trip to Pittsburgh this week, it should be an exciting game and you will be glad you were there to support these Hawks!!
