Dallas Cowboy wide receiver Dez Bryant is free on bond after turning himself into police on Monday. Police are now saying his arrest was due to an altercation with his mother.

According to the DeSoto Police Department, a warrant was issued after his mother, Angela Bryant, called 911 and reported her son assaulting her. When police arrived they reported his mother had a swollen wrist and thumb and bruising on her upper arms. She told police he had pushed her in the chest, hit her in the face with a ball cap and forcefully knocked her arms away when she tried to grab his shirt.

Bryant has been charged family violence which is a misdemeanor. If convicted he a faces up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine. After his arrest, he was released after posting a $1500 bond according to his attorney.
