If you are a history buff you're going to love this! In the 19th century, it was tradition to read the Declaration of Independence from the courthouse balcony to the crowds gathered below and all joined in shouts of “Huzzah!” when the reading concluded. You can join the staff of Historic Washington State Park in recreating these historical events by gathering on the lawn of the 1874 Courthouse for the annual reading, shouting huzzah, and then adding your own “John Hancock” to a copy of the declaration of independence using a quill pen, plus keep a copy for yourself. Become part of American History! We especially encourage children to participate! This is a “Free Program”, times each day will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on July 4-5.

Full or Sampler tours are available at regular cost. Williams Tavern Restaurant will be open for lunch both days from 11:00am to 3:00pm. See you then!
