Yesterday, (Jan. 18) I was personally saddened to hear the news of the passing of Glenn Frey, co- founder and band member of the Eagles. The Eagles were one of my favorite bands when I was in high school. And listening to them takes me back to the beginning of my radio career. Songs like "Best Of My Love," "Take It Easy," "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "One Of Those Nights" and who could forget "Desperado?" Even today, when I hear those songs, they take me back to a more simpler time in our country. I remember playing all those songs on the radio -- especially "Hotel California" -- one of my personal favorites.

I had a chance to see the the Eagles in concert last year in Shreveport. So glad I did because it makes it a little more special now. Frey's health issues first became public toward the end of last year as well. Did you know the Eagles were to receive a Kennedy Center Honor, but due to Frey's health were unable to attend in person. So country superstar Miranda Lambert had the honor of performing a memorial tribute on their behalf.

Here's the incredible performance of "Desperado" from Lambert.

According to Rolling Stone "The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery. Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community and millions of fans worldwide. ”

I guess you could say his journey is finished here on this earth but his legacy will live on through his fans, family, and friends. Rest in Peace.
