A few years ago when I was looking around for places to take the family to look at lights, a friend suggested Santa Land, Texas in Lindale, just north of Tyler. After looking up their website it seemed like a fun place to check out.So I gathered up the family and we took about a two-and-a-half-hour drive to see what this drive-through Santa Land was all about. I remember driving down the interstate and when I rounded a curve, off in the distance the treetops started to glow very brightly. I knew I must be getting close to this magical place which consisted of 24 acres located in the East Texas woods.

Keep in mind, since it is a drive through exhibit, be prepared to wait in line as you wait your turn to enter the park.  If you like, you can take the Santa trailer with other sightseers and brave the weather or you can view your adventure in the warmth of your vehicle. Every section has a theme to it and music is synchronized to the lighting which boasts over two and half million lights. The one thing that sticks out in my mind is the dancing Christmas trees and the jumping deer. Driving through Santa Land was a magical experience and gave me a few great ideas for decorating my home for the holidays.

In addition to the Christmas theme park, they have a gift shop where you can purchase a variety of gifts. Santa Land, Texas runs Nov. 21 through Dec. 26 from 6:30 til 9 p.m. 7 days a week. The cost is $12 per person (groups of 25 and more are $8 per person). Children 2 and under get FREE Admission. Large groups are encouraged to call ahead in order to better accommodate everyone.
