Sara Evans shows off her pipes while covering a Sam Smith favorite.

Seriously, how incredibly talented is Sara Evans. Of course, we love the songs that she has written, but she decided to add a song called "Lay Me Down" from pop artist Sam Smith to her show lineup.

According to her description on YouTube where she posted this video, she chose to add the song because it reminded her of visiting a St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis last year. She got to spend some quality time with the children who are patients at the hospital, including the ones who are in isolation due to bone marrow transplants.

These kids in particular touched Sara because during their recovery, their immune systems are so fragile that even their parents aren't allowed to have contact with them. Many parents find this incredibly challenging because they just want to lay with their kids and comfort them. Some of them can't resist the urge and go in. Unfortunately, the nurses must call security on them.

You can see why this song would mean so much to parents who just want to lay by the side of their children.

Sara says she goes flat or sharp on some notes when she's performing it because she's holding back tears.
