I don't watch TV much, but when I do I'm sure glad reality shows have evolved from the "Big Brother" or "Survivor" type shows. The real life shows on now on networks like History Channel, Discovery, TruTV or Spike are for more entertaining (to me, anyway).

My favorites, in no particular order.

American Pickers

Mike is a super nerd and Frank is a biker/bad boy wannabe, their little jokes are as corny as can be and Danielle is kind of scary with all of her tats, but I always have fun trying to guess the value of the items they find. Plus, how cool would it be to have a job where you drive around the country digging through barns and buying old junk? You can catch "Pickers" on the History Channel Monday nights at 8.

Storage Hunters

This show follows storage auction buyers Brandon and Lori Bernier around the country as they look for hidden treasures in abandoned storage units. There are quite a few of these types of shows, but this one is one of my favorites because there's always some kind of drama and they usually find something really cool. Plus, it's funny to see how jealous the other buyers get of Brandon and Lori's successes. You can catch Storage Hunters on Sunday nights at 9 on TruTV.

Ice Road Truckers

Maybe it's because my dad and brother are truck drivers, maybe it's because of how intense the situations get at times, but this is one of my favorites shows to watch. I don't know how much these people are paid to drive trucks across frozen lakes, but it isn't enough. Ice Road Truckers in on Sunday nights at 8 on History Channel.

Deadliest Catch

Like the Ice Road Truckers, the people that risk their lives to catch Crab in the Bering Sea are a special breed of people. No way I could do something like that no matter how much they paid me. This, to me, is one of the most intense reality show's on TV. Deadliest Catch is on Tuesday's at 8 on the Discovery Channel.

Pyros

Even the Weather Channel is in on the reality show craze now and their latest one is going to be my favorite shows of all. Because it's all about shooting fireworks! Woo hoo! Pyros follows a group of pyro-technicians as they blow stuff up around the world. Pyros airs Tuesdays at 8 on the Weather Channel. So, please don't call or text me during that time and expect a reply.
