The following post contains SPOILERS — both real and fake ones — for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Marvel movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Doctor Strange, and Captain America: Civil War generate tons of excitement. And with that excitement comes tons of online speculation. Much of which is, frankly, a load of hooey. And now that Spider-Man has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man: Homecoming, he’s become one of the movie internet rumor mill’s most popular subjects.

We had to be extra careful when compiling these rumors, though, to make sure we had the rumors for this specific Spider-Man movie. The rumor that Zac Efron would play the next Spider-Man? That one dates back to 2010, when Efron was reportedly going to star in the film that eventually became The Amazing Spider-Man. (Remember that Zac Efron Spider-Man? Yeah, that was a doozy.) Here are 25 non-Efron-related Spider-Man: Homecoming rumors that turned out to be false.
