The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Office of Extended Education and Community Development will offer Certified Occupational Safety Specialist and Certified Occupational Safety Manager programs on the dates below:

  • Feb 5-9 on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas (COSM)
  • Feb 19-23 on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas (COSS)

According to the Press Release, both of these programs are unique, curriculum-based programs that build a solid foundation in both general industry and construction knowledge for the beginning safety practitioner as well as the experienced safety professional. And as safety professionals move along in their career path they are in need of training designed for a high-level safety manager.

These programs meet the requirements outlined in the American National Standards Institute’s Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental Training Standard.

The courses consist of 40 hours of hands-on, instructor-led learning, delivered by OSHA-authorized trainers and are designed to equip workers with the core competencies they need to succeed in occupational safety and health. The manager course requires the completion of the COSS course prior to taking the COSM.
