Temperatures have been Summer like for awhile now, but Summer officially gets here  early Friday morning. The Summer Solstice hits at 12:04 a.m. Friday morning in Texarkana. This is when the sun reaches its northernmost point in the northern hemisphere. It also signals the longest official day of the year as far as sunlight is concerned.

The length of sunlight actually will be at its peak for about the next two weeks before it slowly begins to go the other way towards less sunlight. The official start of summer means hotter temperatures and likely drier weather for the next couple of months.

My suggestion is find a swimming hole, or go see a good movie to try and stay cool. The Rotary Club Splash Pad is a good place to take kids and of course their are the beautiful lakes in the area including Lake DeGray and Lake Greeson in Southwest  Arkansas and Beavers Bend are in Southeast Oklahoma.

Other than taking a vacation and the fun of having the kids out of school, summer is not my favorite time of the year. It's just to hot around this part of the country.

Actually I think Fall is the best time of the year. The weather is beautiful, and it's only three months away!!
