On June 24, 2014 at approximately 12:30pm Texarkana Texas Police Officers were advised by Texarkana Arkansas Police Officers that the suspect in a hit and run accident from their town was seen fleeing west into the Texas side.  TTPD officers observed the suspect vehicle and attempted to catch up to perform a traffic stop.  The suspect vehicle was traveling west on W.13th Street when it entered the intersection of Summerhill Road and caused another crash.  The driver of the suspect vehicle, Shuntay Johnson, 23, of Texarkana, Texas fled on foot with her 5 children who were all 6 years old or younger.  Officers made contact with Johnson in an alleyway nearby where they observed her tossing the children over a fence. Johnson fled on foot from officers leaving the children in the alleyway.  Johnson was captured after a brief foot chase and arrested for Endangering/Abandoning a Child, Resisting Arrest, and Evading Arrest on foot.  Johnson also had an unrelated felony warrant.  The children were transported to the hospital to be checked for injuries.

A photo of Johnson is included.  Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Texarkana Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116 or CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP (7867).
