This Mother's Day weekend is relatively mild compared to last weekend's blockbuster hit 'Iron Man 3'. It's going to be hard to dismantle 'Iron Man' again this weekend but there are two new flicks for your choosing including a reboot of 'The Great Gatsby'. The other a Tyler Perry- produced comedy based on an adaptation of one of the most popular novels of all time 'Peeples'. Can't go wrong taking Mom to see Leonardo Dicaprio in the glitz and glamor movie. What's your pick?

The summer movie season may not quiet be here but if this weekend's movie is any indication of what's to come it's going to be a blockbuster season. The lone movie this weekend is the long awaited franchise Marvel series 'Iron Man 3' starring Robert Downing Jr. as Tony Stark. Apparently all the other movies were a bit scared off, and considering the gigantic openings of the last two 'Iron Man' flicks, it's hard to blame them.

Things are already starting to ramp up for the summer movie season even though we are still two months away from the official start of summer. This weekend the first "summer blockbuster"-type film, hits theaters with Tom Cruise starring in a sci-fi flick thriller 'Oblivion'. Also in theaters this weekend is a dark crime drama along with an incredible good-looking cast in 'The Place Beyond The Pines'. Think maybe I'll go with the sci-fi flick, yeah that's my pick.

This weekend could be the biggest at the box office as the much hyped 'Oz the Great and Powerful' comes to theaters nationwide. With spring break starting to get underway it seems only fitting that movie producer Sam Raimi ('Amazing Spider Man') would release this fantasy tale derived from the iconic classic 'The Wizard of Oz.' The upcoming 'Man of Steel' seems to get all the attention regarding studios' attempt to "reboot" franchises, but If 'Oz' succeeds at the box office, we may end up with a new version of 'The Wizard of Oz' at some point, even though the producers have said that's not their goal. By the way, Disney studios has already started prepping on a sequel that could be released as early as 2015. All I know is my wife has had this movie circled ever since Disney announced it would be making the movie. She is a huge 'Wizard of Oz' fan and can't wait to see it. So guess what? I'll see you at the movies!

Also opening this week is a dark tale of blackmail and revenge.

This R-rated slasher will definitely scare the you know what out of you, only this time you will feel every splatter of blood bounce off the screen. Finally, if you are a 'Lord of the Rings' fan it's what you have been waiting for. 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' hits the box office this weekend and hopes to shatter some box office records. This could be the biggest hit so far in the Christmas season. There is only one other movie released this weekend and it's 'Save the Date'. So I think we sort of hit a lull period at the cinema this weekend. There's not much in the way of blockbuster-type movies coming out. If you want action/drama, a horror sequel, or an 80s remake of 'Silent Night' about a Santa serial killer, that's what you'll find at the box office this weekend. Not much choice, but I think I'll go with the Brad Pitt action flick!

The holiday season is here and it's apparent with some new releases this weekend. The biggest movie of epic purport-ions is the final chapter in the Twilight series, 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2. Another big time movie is 'Lincoln' for all the history buffs out there.
