The TC Board of Directors voted to cut portions of the college's athletic and counseling programs. Texarkana College President James Henry Russell met with the Board of Directors to discuss cutting or changing programs including Athletics, Counseling, and TC programs provided to convicts at FCI Texarkana.

Russell says all athletic programs will be cut at the end of the spring 2012 season and all contracts of personnel employed by the baseball, golf and softball programs will be terminated effective June 30, 2012.  The savings for the college with the elimination of these programs will be almost $500,000 per year.
