A very good crowd was on hand last night for the Texaco Country Showdown at the Four States Fair. People clapped and screamed for their favorite singer as eleven contestants sang their heart out for a chance to get to the State competition at the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock, Arkansas October 21.The field of talent from around the surrounding area featured solo performances as well as local bands vying for their shot to become the next big star and win $100,000 if they make it to the national finals in Nashville, Tenn.

I must say this area is blessed to have the caliber of talent I saw on Monday night. There were several 12 year old kids who definitely have a bright future ahead of them. I watched the judges reactions to some of the singers and I seen them bobbing their head and smiling at several performers. The crowd which consisted of family and friends were rooting for their favorite to move on.

The showdown judges narrowed the contestants down to five finalists who will perform again this Thursday night at 7 p.m. on the outdoor stage at the fair. They are The Jason Helms Band, Jessie Mansfield, Driven, Jamie Klutts Band, and Lauren Marie Presley.

Please come out support your favorite singer at the Texaco Country Showdown which has produced artists like Garth Brooks, Martina McBride, Justin Moore and many others over the years.
