Texarkana Arkansas Mayor Gets Booted from A&P Commission

At the Texarkana Arkansas City Board of Directors meeting Monday May 5, in A&P Commission business the city board reappointed Claude Moore and Debbie Haak, and dropped a bombshell on Mayor Wayne Smith.

In open session Mr, Moore was reappointed to the Tourism Industry position on the commission and long time Texarkana proponent for tourism and development A&P member Debbie Haak was reappointed to the At-Large position. The vote was 4-2 with Director Mike Jones, Director Sue Johnson, Director Laney Harris and Director Londell Williams voting yes. Voting no were Smith and Director Ruth Penney Davis. Director Chad Dowd did not attend Monday’s meeting. Smith said he wanted to see what the  AG thought because he don't think either of the members of the commission should have been elected during what he does not consider an emergency meeting.... BUT THEN...

The board went in to closed session, and when they came out a motion was made to remove Mayor Wayne Smith from the A&P Commission. A vote was taken and Smith has now been removed from the commission and replaced with Ward 6 Director Sue Johnson.
