The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is investigating a weekend shooting incident that occurred at a convenience store parking lot.

Officers say the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Stop and Shop convenience store on East Ninth Street. Police responded to a 911 call of a shooting around 10:30 Saturday night.

According to authorities, the investigation revealed that a verbal altercation occurred between 36 year old Benjamin Henderson, and 28 year old La Quient Hayes in the parking lot of the business. During the incident Henderson allegedly shot Hayes. Hayes was transported by LifeNet to Wadley Regional Medical Center for medical attention and was listed in critical condition.

Police are continuing to search for Henderson, who is wanted for 1st degree battery. Anyone with information on this incident or this suspect are urged to call Texarkana Arkansas Police or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at (903) 793-STOP.
