The Texarkana, Ark., City Board of Directors meets tonight and will consider allowing the Texarkana Water Utilities to raise water rates.

The ordinance would allow the water utilities to raise water rates 10 percent for all customer classifications to pay for the acquisition of additional Millwood Lake water rights from the Southwest Arkansas Water District.

Directors will also consider establishing an Anti-Discrimination Policy for the city and for other purposes. The board will also consider accepting the City Manager employment agreement.

Additionally, the directors will hear about granting permission to the Parks and Recreation Department to host the 4th Annual Mardi Gras Parade and Festival on Saturday, February 6 from 8AM to 7PM.

There will also be comments from the mayor, questions from directors and citizen communication time as well.

The board will also hold a closed executive session to make appointments to various boards, commissions, and committees.

The public is invited to attend the open portions of tonight's board of directors meeting, which gets under way at 6:40PM at Texarkana, Ark., City Hall.
