This Thursday, March 23 at 11:30AM Texarkana College will welcome Chairman Andres Alcantar of the Texas Workforce Commission as the keynote speaker for a region wide luncheon. The public is invited to attend the kick-off for the Texas Higher Education strategic plan of 60x30TX according to a recent press release.

This is a huge goal set forth by the state that 60 percent of Texans age 25-34 years old will hold a college credential by the year 2030.  Right now in the region of northeast Texas, they are somewhere between 15-18 % of that goal according to the latest statistics. TCC officials say, "We have a long way to go to meet the state’s goal."  The luncheon speaker will introduce the plan to stakeholders and explain the importance of the plan for our region.

In other unrelated news, earlier today (March 22) Texarkana College received a $100,000 check from Texas Mutual Insurance Company to fund new safety training courses.
