Texas A&M University-Texarkana is the site for the 2016 Texarkana Heart Walk on Saturday, June 4, for the American Heart Association. Put your walking shoes on and get your company or friends together for a very special walk.

Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans? In fact, someone dies from CVD every 39 seconds. Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects. One of the missions of the American Heart Association is by 2020, they hope to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent.

All the fun starts at 8AM with the one-mile fun walk and 5K run beginning at 8:30PM. Cost for the run is $25 per person. Walkers are eligible for a Heart Walk T-shirt once you raised $100.
