Two Texarkana men are facing numerous drug charges after a routine traffic stop turned in to so much more.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested 26 year old Wyndel Shepherd, Jr.,and 17 year old Jalen Nix, for numerous drug charges following a traffic stop Sunday night.

According to authorities an officer pulled the driver of the vehicle over for a minor traffic violation. When the officer initially approached the driver’s side window to speak to Shepherd, he immediately noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Nix was the sole passenger. After another officer arrived to assist, they conducted a search of the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, officers allegeldy found marijuana stored in a mason jar, a bottle of codeine syrup, baggies containing eighteen Xanax pills, twelve Oxycodone pills, ten pills believed to be MDMA (Ecstasy), cocaine, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine. In addition to several scales, they also located a loaded pistol under each of the front seats.

Both Shepherd and Nix were arrested for seven counts of Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon and transported to the Bi-State Jail without incident. A judge set bond for each of the men at a total of $181,000.
