Texarkana Ready for ‘Race For The Cure’ This Weekend
The 2012 Komen Texarkana Race For The Cure is this Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Four States Fairgrounds and Bobby Ferguson Park presented by EZ Mart.This race has been taking place for 14 years right here in Texarkana and it's been instrumental in helping save lives in our area. 83 percent of all funds raised are spent directly on the mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever. 75 percent of net income remains in the community, with almost $3.6 million in local grants for breast health education and breast cancer screening having been awarded by the Texarkana organization since 1999.
In addition to the race there will also be a Pasta Party and Silent Auction from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 19 at the Fairgrounds Oasis. Live music and food provided by Carino's Italian. Tickets are $50 for the event and available at komentexarkana.org or at the door.
