The Texarkana, Texas Police Department has released a statement concerning the conviction and sentencing of the suspect involved in the hit and run death of Police Officer Jason Sprague last summer. Many representatives from the news media have asked for an official reaction to the conviction and sentencing of Justin Sanders, after being found guilty of murdering Texarkana Texas Police Officer William Jason Sprague.

It is our sincere hope that the outcome of this case has, in some fashion, brought a measure of peace and closure to Stephanie, Caden and the entire Sprague family.  We continue to extend our love and support to each of them.
We, as a Department, take comfort in the fact that the prosecution of this case has concluded.  Words alone cannot accurately describe our great appreciation for the outpouring of love, comfort and support this community extended to the Sprague’s and our law enforcement family.  That kindness will always be remembered.  And, last, but certainly not the least, we thank and commend the Bowie County District Attorney’s Office for their efforts to ensure that justice has been served.
The memory of Officer Sprague and this tragic event will remain with us forever.
