The Texarkana Texas Police Department has announced the promotion of two veteran officers.

Chief Dan Shiner recently promoted Sgt. Michael Jones to the rank of lieutenant and Officer Clay McClure to the rank of sergeant.

Jones has been employed with the Texarkana Police Department since 2001.  He has served in a number of critical department capacities, including patrol officer and supervisor, Personnel and Training, SWAT Commander, Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Team, and Firearms Range Master.  He is a 1995 graduate of Queen City High School and a Marine Corps veteran.  Jones now serves as a shift commander in the Operations Division.

McClure has been employed with the Texarkana Police Department for seventeen years.  During that time, he has worked as a patrol officer, field training officer, and a narcotics investigator.  He is a 1985 graduate of Liberty Eylau High School and previously worked as a deputy with the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office.  McClure now serves as a shift supervisor in the Operations Division.
