We've had a strange August that's for sure. Now, that summer is almost over it's time to look into what our winter will be like. There is no better way than to check The Old Farmer's Almanac. At least, that's what I hear.

The reference book does explain how it predicts the weather at its website. It all started with a secret formula back in 1792.

According to Texarkana in The Old Farmer's Almanac, which by the way is either the Deep South Region (which includes all of Arkansas and Louisiana) or the Texas - Oklahoma Region, both forecasts are super close:

Winter will be much milder than normal, with snowfall mostly below normal and confined to the north. The coldest periods will be in late December, early to mid-January, from late January into early February, and in late February. Rainfall will be below normal in the north and near to below normal in the south, with snowfall most likely across the north in late December and late January.

In other words, it kind of looks like our winter is going to be another so-so kind of winter. I'm a summer person but, I'd love for it to just once to say "snow and tons of it." Yes, I hate cold weather but my philosophy is, "If it's going to be cold then it better snow." Otherwise I just don't see the purpose of cold weather.
