The annual Texas and Arkansas sales tax free weekend is coming up -- this weekend.

Texas shoppers can save this Friday, August 5, through Sunday, August 7. Arkansas consumers will get their break on taxes on Saturday the 6 and Sunday the 7.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds shoppers that the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced for less than $100 each from sales tax, saving you about $8 on every $100 you spend during the weekend.

Lists of apparel and school supplies that may be purchased tax-free can be found on the Comptroller's website at TexasTaxHoliday.org.

The list of items covered in Arkansas may be found by checking out the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration website.

With the brand new school year just a few short weeks away, every parent knows how much there is to buy and spend for their children starting a new grade. This year, shoppers overall in both states will save millions of dollars in state and local sales taxes during the sales tax holiday.

Back to school does not have to mean you break the bank.
